Langkawi Ferry Services Sdn. Bhd. or LFS was established on 20th Nov 1996. In 1997, the company has purchased 6 new high-speed passengers ferries as a start off to its business operation. Today, LFS has 12 ferries in total operating daily between Langkawi, Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis, Penang, Puala Payar Marine Park and Satun (Thailand). Its also service between Penang and Medan (Indonesia).
LFS management team has more than 20 years of experience in the ferry business and operations. LFS ensures Fast, Efficient & Comfortable Ferry Services to our customers at all times. The ferry capacity and speed ranges from 100 to 200 seats and operating at the speed of 30 to 40 knots. LFS has probably has the fastest ferry among other operators in this region.
LFS started its first ferry operation from Langkawi to Kuala Perlis in the month of August 1997 and extended its services from Langkawi to Kuala Kedah and Satun (Thailand) in the month of October 1997.
On 21st Dec 1998, LFS extends further its ferry operation from Langkawi to Penang and Penang to Pulau Payar, the journey only takes 2 hours & 1 1/2 hours respectively. On 6th June 2000, LFS launched a new International Sector, Penang to Medan. The Kenangan Express, LFS latest addition to the fleet, will take you there in only 4 hours.
